Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) is the Victorian Government statutory authority responsible for the safety and technical regulation of electricity, gas and pipelines for all Victorians. Within the broader Corporate Services Division, due to a period of maternity leave an opportunity has developed within the People Services team. The People Services function has a clear focus on adding value to the business units and providing, efficient, effective and accurate services to internal stakeholders.

About the role:

Reporting to the Head of People Services, and working with colleagues in the People Services team, the Business Partner, is responsible for building and developing relationships with ESV’s leadership team and the people in designated client groups to ensure that the People Services needs of the business are met and that people related issues are resolved in a timely manner. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide timely and accurate advice to leaders and employees on all people matters, including interpretation and application of employment terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with People Services colleagues to ensure an integrated and consistent approach to the delivery of People Services.
  • Contribute to the development and review of ESV’s people policy framework
  • Lead, support and participate in recruitment activities for vacancies that occur within the designated client group.
  • Coordinate ESV’s annual health and wellbeing program
  • Develop and implement other People Services initiatives as required.

To be considered for this role you will:

You will have a tertiary qualification in Human Resources or equivalent, previous experience in a similar advisory or business partner role, with a sound working knowledge of the relevant state and federal industrial relations and other employment related legislation.

You will have strong communication skills (written & verbal) and the ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels of the business. Furthermore you must have experience in guiding and supporting managers through various HR processes such as recruitment, misconduct and performance management.

This role is available on a full-time or flexible part time basis (minimum 24 hours per week). This role will be required to service client groups at ESV’s Southbank and Glen Waverley Office, which will require you to work from both locations on a regular basis. A current and valid Australian drivers licence is essential.
