Ahead of Mother’s Day on Sunday, we asked this question to the JustMums team…
How does your mum inspire you?
“My mum inspires me for lots of reasons but the main one is that she has great energy, is pumped for life and is always happy. Mum has an incredible ability to talk & relate to anyone – and she’ll strike up a conversation with a stranger whether they like it or not – within 5 minutes she’ll know everything about them. Her enthusiasm is contagious and at 70 her zest for life is bigger than ever. She’s a bundle of joy and appropriately named. Happy Mothers Day Joy (aka Mum)”.
“My mum (Chris) is truly a force to be reckoned with. Renowned for her unlimited energy and friendly nature, she’s also an incredible cook (her sausage rolls and chicken sandwiches are legendary!) and she can play tennis better than many half her age. She instilled a strong work ethic in us and (at 69 years young) she recently decided to “slow down” and transitioned to a 9-day fortnight in her Office Manager role! She’s always there for her 3 children and 5 grandchildren and will drop everything to help us. Mum inspires me every day to be a better person and I hope I have the same energy, enthusiasm (and have mastered her culinary skills!) at her age. Love you mum!”
“My mum is a carer to my adult sister with Autism. The daily challenges and struggles she faces and the way she handles those challenges is a true testament to her strength and resilience – both mentally and physically. Mum inspires me to never give up, no matter what curve ball life throws my way. She has taught me to work hard, stay strong and believe in myself and if all else fails – pour a glass of wine, turn up the music and dance!”
“My mum has always been the glue that holds our family together. She is fiercely loyal, overly generous and will literally do anything for my sister and I. She inspires me every day to be a strong, independent woman that can deal with anything life throws at me. I have watched in awe as she has forged such strong bonds with each of her 4 grandchildren. To her, family is so important and that’s a legacy she’ll leave”.
“My mum epitomises strength, selflessness and kindness all in one. She has taught me that we can juggle many things at once and to always have a good laugh and not take yourself too seriously”.
Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful mums, grandmas, and significant female figures in your lives.
